Counselling program for IDPs

President Mahinda Rajapaksa is keen and interested in restoring the disturbed mentality of internally displaced people to enable them to lead a normal lifestyle, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

"The President wants a combined psycho-social intervention and counselling program to be launched by the education, health and social services sectors in IDP welfare camps in Vavuniya."

Minister Premajayantha was addressing a special workshop held at the main auditorium of the Pelawatte Examination Department on Thursday.

The workshop was convened under the guidance of President Mahinda Rajapaksa to prepare provincial coordinators resource centre managers, in- service advisors and senior trainers attached to the Education Ministry's psycho-social intervention and counselling unit for a massive psycho-social support program in IDP welfare camps in the Vavuniya and Mannar districts.
