Sri Lanka government allows opposition to visit welfare centers

Sri Lanka government today said that the opposition political parties are now able to visit the welfare centers in Vavuniya where thousands of Internally Displaced Persons are housed.

Replying to a question raised by the main opposition United National Party parliamentarian Joseph Michelle Perera at the House, Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka said there is no problem over the visiting of welfare centers by opposition parties now.

Earlier Sri Lanka government refused the approval for visiting welfare centers in Vavuniya to any political party in opposition. Read more ...
