French govt. provides field hospital to Chettikulam

Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said yesterday (30) that the French Government had provided a field hospital with 100 beds to be established in Chettikulam.

The ICRC is also scheduled to provide another field hospital for Vavuniya in the near future, and the Ministry was in dire need of another 1,000 hospital beds for the internally displaced, he said. "But beds alone are not enough. We need doctors and nurses to serve in these hospitals". The Minister said the Ministry had decided on a "First come first served" basis for donors in this record.
