All in place to pay homage to Our Lady of Madhu

Catholics will celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Madhu on August 15 under state patronage and all arrangements have been made to hold the "Annual Madhu Feast" on a grand scale and the annual flag hoisting day will be held on the 6th of next month.

The feast will be held on the 16th. Around 400 thousand devotees are expected at this year's festival. Security in the area has been strengthened. All facilities have been made available for the convenience of the pilgrims,the Ministry of Religious Affairs said.

The Catholic community in the country have expressed their gratitude to President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Government and the Armed Forces for liberating the nation from terrorism to enable the pilgrims to pay homage to the Church of Our Lady of Madhu after 33 years without fear. Rev. Father Desmond Kulas who is in charge of the administration of the historic Madhu Church says arrangements have been made to hold this year's Our Lady of Madhu festival on a grand scale.
